Basics of the Page Rank

Page Rank is the term a blogger must be familiar with. In our last article about Search Engine Optimization SEO we discussed different factors to optimize the blog.

There is a concept of popularity of your website among other sites. Yes you may also think about the backlink article too. What I would like to add here is that crosslinks are equally important as backlinks. A crosslink means the link of your own blog referring one of the posts within the same blog. It will assist or point the search engine bot to index that particular page too while indexing another page of your blog.

Coming back to the page rank. Page Rank is the popularity of your link and it ranges from 1 to 10 depending upon quality of backlinks or crosslinks within your blog. There are many tools available to check the page rank.

The pages with rank 1 would fall in poor range but better than those with zero rank. The higher number would show qualification of a link making the standing in first pages of Google SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages).

The factors that would boost the rank:

Update Pages Frequently
Add Pages Frequently
Quality Inbound Links
Quality Relevant Links
No Broken Links

The factors that would decrease the rank would encompass:

Lots of broken links
SEO Black Hat Techniques
Bad inbound links such as Porn, Sex, Drugs etc
Link spamming
Bad Content
